In 2018, I participated in a portraiture master class organised by Obscura Festival (https://www.obscurafestival.com). It was taught by Maggie Steber (http://www.maggiesteber.com).
My interest is always in street photography but I also want to try other form of photography. That’s the reason why I participate in this masterclass. The masterclass pushes me to do what I normally don’t do for my photography work. Maggie has been great in pushing us out of our comfort zone and try out different ways of making our idea of photography works.
In the masterclass, Pit and Ink is the project that I worked o. Pit is a tattoo artist in Penang. I visited his studio for a couple of days and photographed his daily routine and some of things that are important to him. Then mixing David Hockney's photography style (http://tallisphotography.weebly.com/david-hockney.html), as suggested by Maggie, with a bit of mine, I created Pit and Ink.
